Description:
Full-time, Exempt Management position responsible for the administration and operation of a 24/7 Safety and Security department of internal Ranger staff and contract Security Service Partners to ensure the well being of the Garden collection, buildings, property, staff, volunteers, visitors and general site operations.
Responsibilities:
• Manages 24/7 Safety and Security department by planning, assigning, directing and supervising work by all department employees and service partners.
• Develop, update, and enforce appropriate safety, security, and emergency policies/procedures.
• Ensures compliance to federal, state, and local laws pertaining to alcohol sales.
• Designing, implementing and conducting Safety and Security training programs.
• Coordinates the application, installation, integration, operation and monitoring of safety and security systems.
• Maintains close working relationship with local law enforcement and fire/rescue services, and other authorities as necessary for special events, during emergencies and for the prevention, control and investigation of risks.
• Performs risk, threat and vulnerability analysis and recommends solutions and measures to senior management for mitigation measures where necessary.
• Develops standard operating procedures and protocols for escalations and communications for emergency incident management and business continuity.
• Reviews and makes recommendations as appropriate for all performance appraisals prepared by the Safety & Security Supervisor
• Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual styles, quality, creativity and teamwork.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Security and Site Operations, the Deputy Director and/or Executive Director
Skills & Requirements:
1. Bachelor degree in Safety, Security or Emergency Management or a related field preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety, Security, Public Safety Management or a combination of experiences with at least 3 years in a management role.
3. Demonstrated business communications with sensitivity to confidential matters and working with diverse populations and abilities. Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
4. Prefer ASIS International board accreditation as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).
5. Strong computer skills and proficiency in operation of Microsoft Office, Incident Reporting and Workcontrol Management software.
Selections are subject to meeting appropriate extended background check standards. All positions may require the use of DBG owned vehicles on DBG business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
