Description:
The Children's Museum Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing educational programs for the Children's Museum. This includes Coordination and engagement of program presenters, evaluation of potential programs, and scheduling of programs. The coordinator also develops in-house programs to compliment the Children's Museum's exhibits while responding to the needs and desires of the community with relation to program offerings. The program coordinator will facilitate meetings between the Children's Museum's team and other Center teams with the objective of knowledge sharing and collaborative integration work. They will also liaise with the Center's school programs coordinator to develop school visitation programs that meet the requirements of the Children's Museum within the available resources of the Center as a whole. They will also be responsible for the development of Institutional partnerships and management of the Children's Museum's Institutional memberships
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for planning and executing Children's Educational Center programs.
• Creates the calendar of programs.
• Coordinates and engages program presenters, evaluates potential programs, and schedules programs.
• Develops in-house programs in compliment with the Children's Museum's exhibits and responds to the needs and desires of the community in the Children's Museum's program offerings.
• Coordinate, as necessary, meetings between the Children's Museum's team and other Center teams with the objective of knowledge sharing and collaborative integration work.
• Liaise with the Center's school programs coordinator to develop a school visitation program that meets the requirements of the Children's Museum within the available resources of the Center as a whole.
• Coordinate input into the development of the school visitation program from the various Children's Museum program and exhibit focused teams.
• Liaise with the Center's consultants on the development of Children's Museum specific policies.
• Liaise with the Center's consultants on the development of operational manual.
• Development of Institutional partnerships for long-term relationships.
• Management of Institutional memberships for the Children's Museum.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree - Preferably a Masters degree in, Early Childhood Education, Museum Education, Museum Studies or similar field.
Skills:
A teaching certification for K-12 school is preferred as is experience coordinating programs for a children's museum or other child-focused enrichment institution.
You will need to have extensive experience with program development, coordination and integration within cultural institutions. Strong organizational and communications skills, strong computer literacy and the aptitude for being a confident self-starter are also necessary.
