Description: The conservator will oversee artwork approved for loan, including assessment, treatment, condition reports, and related travel; conduct preservation activities including environmental monitoring of storage and exhibit areas; assist with architectural preservation projects in Marfa; conduct research on the materials and techniques of Donald Judd and other artists represented in the collection; recruit and supervise interns; prepare and manage budgets, and organize, maintain, and purchase lab equipment. The conservator will appoint and provide oversight of specialist conservation consultants, and advise collections staff on the proper care and maintenance of the collection. The conservator will report to the Executive Director and to an advisory committee that was established by the Judd Foundaiton in 2005. The Advisory Committee for Conservation & Restoration (ACCR) meets three times a year and is comprised of conservators with extensive experience in treating works of art by Donald Judd, and former studio assistants to Judd who have first and knowledge of his working practice.
