Description:
Painting Conservator

The DMA is establishing its first conservation lab dedicated to painting conservation and is seeking a Painting Conservator who will be a passionate intellectual with an appetite for a start-up organization. The position will assist in the establishment of the lab, researching materials and equipment and advising on the lab’s configuration. Responsibilities will also include all aspects of the care and treatment of American and European paintings and other painted works in the collection. Candidates must have an interest in exploring the issues of conserving American and European paintings, up to the present day, and researching the materials, techniques and ideas of artists represented in the collections and exhibitions. The position works independently conserving works and collaborates extensively with the Curatorial and Collections and Exhibition divisions. The candidate should have a degree from a recognized conservation training program or the equivalent, with at least three years’ additional experience in the field.
