Description:
The Adler Planetarium, Chicago, IL, is seeking a Major and Planned Gifts Officer to manage a portfolio of individual prospects and to coordinate cultivation and stewardship events/activities for a wide group of donors. This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Development and the Director of Individual Giving.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage a portfolio of individual prospects for major and planned gifts;
• Write/prepare donor proposals, stewardship reports and collateral material;
• the $40M Lift-Off! Campaign’s communications strategy;
• Manage donor cultivation and stewardship events to advance the objectives of the campaign, primarily among individual prospects;
• Coordinate the activities of the Adler’s campaign committee, including meetings, communications and strategies for trustee participation/ engagement;
• Expand the Adler’s planned giving program and manage activities of the Max & Sophie Adler Society donor recognition group.

Experience and Education:
• A Bachelor’s Degree; an advanced degree is preferred;
• Five or more years of progressive experience in fund raising with demonstrated expertise interacting with executive-level volunteers, preferably for a major cultural organization;
• Knowledge of fund-raising strategies and a track record of achieving financial goals is essential;
• Experience with the Chicago philanthropic community is preferred.

Excellent writing skills analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, the ability to work with a variety of people in multiple departments, excellent organizational, presentation and team-building skills and demonstrated creativity are required.

The salary for this position is commensurate with education and experience.
