Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts

Saint Louis, Missouri

Type: Full Time, Experienced

Required Degree: BA/BS

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Preferred Degree: PhD

Description:
The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts is a unique institution with an international profile and a strong commitment to St. Louis and the urban neighborhood where it is situated (Grand Center is an arts and entertainment district, located in St. Louis' midtown). The Pulitzer defines itself as a laboratory and a meditative space in which to experience different art forms and from which to further their recognition in society.

The institutional identity is shaped by Tadao Ando's architecture and the legacy of Emily Rauh Pulitzer, Founder and Chairman of the Board, and the late Joseph Pulitzer, Jr. The identity is further established by the highest level of curatorial discourse that surrounds each of the Pulitzer projects.

Currently, the Pulitzer is in a growth process, which aims at developing a structure large enough to have a national and international impact and small enough to remain flexible and creative in terms of new challenges. Throughout all phases of this growth, quality remains essential. Recently, a series of community projects was added to the range of activities, with the idea to further explore the issues and concepts that are raised in the exhibitions and to take the discourse outside the walls of the Ando building. The Pulitzer hopes that all of its projects "raise the bar" by contributing to the discussion in the field.

Within this framework, the Pulitzer seeks to add the position of Projects Curator. The Pulitzer offers a stimulating working environment that is characterized by its team-based and project-driven culture. The successful candidate for this new position will be someone who can work independently, make decisions in a team environment and work collaboratively with the Director, the Founder and the Board.
