Description:
This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial and creative individual to fill a pivotal role on our growing Advancement Team. Reporting to the President/CEO, the successful candidate will build relationships, communicating persuasively with foundation executives, and pursue effective strategies to secure major grants from private foundations.

The Director of Foundation Support will be responsible for the overall direction of foundation philanthropy programs. The successful candidate will be able to research, identify, cultivate, and serve as staff liaison to foundations with potential to provide major support to OSV. The position requires knowledge of the regional and national foundation sector; the ability to develop tactical plans from conceptual ideas; monitor and interpret trends in foundation giving; provide superior service to current and potential foundation donor constituents. This individual must possess the ability to effectively and professionally interact with senior staff in developing, writing and submitting successful proposals, and to pursue innovative and effective strategies that will secure significant foundation support for the Museum.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Plan, implement, and administer the foundation giving program;
• Work closely and collaboratively with all other members of the Advancement team;
• Work closely with Senior Management, staff, trustees, members, overseers, community leaders and volunteers to identify, research, interpret and develop opportunities for attracting foundation funding from local, regional and national sources;
• Develop and maintain recognition and stewardship programs for foundation donors

Educational Requirements:
BA/BS

Skills:
• Minimum of five years professional experience in grant writing, advancement and/or development;
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Knowledge of the regional and national foundation philanthropic sector
