Description:
A senior and highly visible position at the Museum responsible for all aspects of fundraising, including: capital campaigns; the annual fund; private major gifts; exhibition underwriting; corporate and foundation support; municipal, state, and federal grants; planned giving; and all programs designed to broaden the Museum's funding base. Supervise and motivate a staff of seven (Membership Manager, Special Events Manager, Grants Writer, Data Entry Specialist, Campaign Manager, Campaign Coordinator, and Departmental Assistant). Coordinate and provide staff support to the Development Committee and other related sub-committees and are the principal liaison to the volunteer committees for the Renaissance Ball, the premier fundraising event, and other fundraising committees.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Development communicates the Museum's vision and mission and spearheads all levels of fundraising in the institution. They manage and organize the Development Department, conduct annual performance reviews of their staff, and carry out all policies established by the Trustees and the Executive Director/CEO. The Director of Development records and acknowledges all donations and pledges, and communicates transparently and impeccably with the Finance Department. They perform prospect research and create lists of prospective donors.
Educational Requirements:
College graduate, preferably with graduate training in a complementary discipline. At least five years of experience in development with a non-profit institution; capital campaign experience is highly desirable. Thorough familiarity with computers and Raiser's Edge a must.

Independent judgment, decision-making authority and common sense are essential prerequisites of the job. They also must have the highest standards of integrity, must be outgoing, self-starting, well-organized, tactful, detail-oriented, innovative and capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines. |
