Description:
The Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA), in Long Beach, CA seeks an Associate Vice President of Education to lead the Museum's educational programs. The Associate VP of Education will provide leadership and vision for the education programming that explores Latin American art and culture. Programs should emphasize the museum's mission and current exhibitions and should have sufficient appeal and validity to attract both new and existing audiences.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
• Create, plan, implement, supervise and evaluate all of the educational programs that may include: workshops, courses, festivals, seminars for schools, educators, adults and families
• Develop education curricula that reflects state standards
• Develop and administer the department's budget
• Recruit and supervise contract educators and instructors to teach art workshops
• Promote MoLAA's education programs through creation of monthly brochures, flyers, newsletters, public service announcements, etc
• Supervise the administrative matters of the education department to include, although not limited to, purchase of required materials, collection, and processing of student fees and instructor remuneration
• Outreach to schools, colleges, and universities, contacting principals and educators to generate interest in the museum and create collaborations
• Promote guided tours and art workshops for groups of students visiting the museum
• Work with other MoLAA departments on projects involving education-related activities
• Outline event logistics and work orders for education events
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Educational Requirements:
Master's Degree in Art Education, Art, Education or related field required

Skills:
4-5 years Experience in planning and organizing educational programs required
• Strong interest in Latin American art
• Bilingual in Spanish required
• Project management experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven track record in budget management
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends
• Ability to work effectively in both team environments and in self-directed situations
• Ability to manage multiple projects and plan work to maximize efficiency
• Ability to maintain positive personal relationships in a broad range of situations
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Must have managerial and administrative skills
