**Some positions will start in early May, others in early June (or dates in-between) and work through late August or into early October (or dates in-between).
WORK LOCATION:
We have positions in Mackinaw City and on Mackinac Island. Employees may be assigned to work at any MISPC site as assigned by the supervisor. Although work location may change during the season, employees will usually work on either Mackinac Island or in Mackinaw City.
GENERAL WORK INFORMATION:
This is a temporary seasonal position which serves at the will of the employer and does not include benefits. This position will expire at the time employment is ended for the season; the employee does not have recall rights to this position or any other position in subsequent seasons. Additional information will be provided to the employee upon employment.
These are seasonal positions. Individuals are hired for the summer season only. Positions generally work between ten and 23 weeks.
*Low cost housing available - approximately $96.00 a month - for employees who do not live in the Straits of Mackinac area.

Responsibilities:
1. Greet guests upon arrival.
2. Assist visitors with selection of admission tickets.
3. Enter ticket purchases into computerized cash register.
4. Assist museum store guest with purchases.
5. Enter all museum store purchases into computerized cash register.
6. Study and be knowledgeable about all MSHP public programs and facilities.
7. Respond to inquiries from guests.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be 18 as of first date of employment.
2. Ability to read and write effectively and to understand and follow written and verbal directions.
3. Ability to operate computerized cash registers with speed and accuracy.
4. Friendly, outgoing personality.
5. Good math skills
6. Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations.
7. Knowledge of or willingness to learn effective sales techniques.
8. Display professional work habits (will be required to wear a uniform provided by the park).
*Be prepared to work at various assigned sales outlets.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position will require the employee to wear costumes or heavy wool uniforms in all types of weather conditions including extreme heat. Soldier positions will also carry and discharge rifles with black powder and fire cannons causing loud noise (earplugs are provided). Stretching and bending are moves commonly made throughout the day by employees in this position. The employee must have the ability to do the following activities, with or without, reasonable accommodation: Frequent lifting, carrying, transporting, loading and unloading of supplies, walking long distances on rough terrain and up steep inclines, frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching and grasping, sitting and/or standing for long periods of time, and ability to utilize ferry boat transportation to and from Mackinac Island.
