DESCRIPTION
The Henry Ford seeks a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and dynamic individual as Director of Education to provide leadership, strategic direction, design, and development for its education programs, products, and endeavors. This senior level position will be responsible for the articulation of an education strategy, curriculum design, expansion of the educational audience, and the development and marketing of new products to serve them. The director will work closely with other Senior Management Team members to support the overall strategy of The Henry Ford as well as the specific plans and programs for each of its venues.
The director will be responsible for developing and implementing an annual plan outlining the development, implementation, maintenance, and assessment of student, educator, and family programs, products, and resources. The Director of Education will also be responsible for creating and delivering electronic programming, collaborating in venue exhibition and program development, as well as serving as the primary liaison between The Henry Ford, the Henry Ford Academy, and the Henry Ford Learning Institute. The director will provide an energetic “public face” for The Henry Ford as a national educational organization and provide leadership to the Education staff and other staff to ensure that they are fully engaged and actively working towards the fulfillment of the institutional vision, mission, and brand.
The Henry Ford is the history destination that brings the American Experience to life and is comprised of Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, The Henry Ford IMAX Theater, Benson Ford Research Center, Ford Rouge Factory Tour, and Henry Ford Academy.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (Master’s preferred) and demonstrated experience in museum education, informal education or related field. A minimum of five years’ of progressively responsible experience in education, museums or related organizations, and five years’ administrative and supervisory experience are required.
