Description:
The Advertising Icon Museum seeks a motivated and talented individual for the Director of Development. The Development Director is responsible for a comprehensive development program that includes annual giving, membership, planned gifts and corporate and foundation support. The successful candidate functions as a knowledgeable and highly accountable museum professional and as an energetic self-starter who balances multiple projects simultaneously. This individual is also a creative entrepreneur who will lead, direct and train volunteers and interns and work collaboratively with other museum staff to achieve audience development, marketing and public relations goals.
Responsibilities:
• Grant writing and solicitation of gifts from corporations, foundations and government sources
• Cultivation and research of potential funding sources
• Liaison to the community
• Creation and implementation of the museum's membership program
• Cultivation of members, both individual and corporate
• Plan and attend all member events
• Maintenance of donor database, as well as donor and prospect hard files
• Writing letters of inquiry, proposal narratives, project reports, and related correspondence for corporate and foundation grants
• Processing gift acknowledgments
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Understanding of nonprofit management, operations, and budgeting/financial functions
• Must be results-oriented based and have a strong internal drive to take initiative and achieve fundraising and membership goals
• Accomplished grant writer with success in both public and private resources Demonstrated ability to work effectively with community and Board volunteers, and with contracted service, part-time and full-time personnel
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Excellent people skills with the ability to effectively manage volunteer/intern staff
